LISC & ICA TRAINING: CHICAGO PLANS 2016

After a successful fall 2015 Chicago Plans cohort, ICA and Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) are continuing their partnership, a LISC-led effort to empower community leaders with the facilitation skills they need to design and execute successful participation-based planning efforts in community areas across the city.

ToP NETWORK: MOVING BEYOND THE GATHERING

The past few months have seen great investment in a ToP Network that is innovative and evolving, with much focus on mending the relationship between the ToP Netork and the ICA. At the Annual Gathering, the historical scan and image shift exercises in particular enabled healing and momentum to explore future potential for the ToP Network and ICA.

PEER SHARING IN ZIMBABWE STRENGTHENS ZIM50

STONE SOUP MOVES INTO ECO-FRIENDLY RENOVATION

After spending over 10 years unoccupied, a large space on the 5th floor has been renovated and leased to the Stone Soup Cooperative. The renovation, which took two months, has rehabbed the area into the most sustainably ‘green’ space in the building.The result is a low-impact, energy efficient, sustainably designed living space for the community of over 15 people.

ANNOUNCING 2016 SPRING SOJOURN

Last Fall’s Sojourn was the biggest in Archives history and we have great expectations for the next session. A key component to this Sojourn will be a Global Archives Planning session on Tuesday, March 29th to strategically map out the next several years. The intent for Spring Sojourn 2016 is to release ICA Global Archive strategy to support ongoing archive projects and the mission of ICA.

GARDENING HUB DAY SPROUTS ACTION

On Saturday, February 27th, ICA hosted a garden themed Hub day and Seed Swap which brought together 35 residents whose gardening skills ranged from beginner to gardening expert. The aim of Hub days are to promote the ICA GreenRise as a community space to gather and learn skills that support personal sustainability. In addition to skills-based workshops and mingling opportunities, this Hub day featured an Uptown engagement track to plan future community activities.

ToP NETWORK CELEBRATES 25 YEARS OF FACILITATION!

On January 8th through 10th, the ToP Network celebrated its 25th year at the ToP Annual Gathering. Held in Phoenix, Arizona the event allowed attendees to take stock on how far the Network has come since its inception, and discuss where they would like to see it go in the future.
