FOURTH CONFERENCE TO STRENGTHEN WEST AFRICAN ICAS

“Strengthening ICAs for greater effectiveness and sustainability in West Africa” will be the theme of the fourth annual ICA in West Africa Conference. ICA Côte d’Ivoire first hosted the regional gathering in 2015, followed by ICA Togo in 2016, Lambassa ICA Benin in 2017, and now EPDI Nigeria.

ICA-USA has over 30 sister ICAs around the globe. Many ICAs partner together on efforts. In general, the ICAs in the Global North focus more on using ICA’s methods to provide organization development support, and ICAs in the Global South use the very same methods to create and implement community development efforts.

ICAI LAUNCHES AIDS-FREE COMMUNITY TOOLBOX

Since 2002, international ICAs have collaborated on the African HIV/AIDS Prevention Initiative, implemented by 10 African ICAs. From 2013 to 2016, ICA Zimbabwe piloted the AIDS-Free Community Campaign in 26 communities in peri-urban Harare. The Campaign Toolbox consolidates what had been learned and organized into key aspects of community responsibility for AIDS prevention into a one-year replicable design.

FACILITATION ABROAD: IAF, ToP GLOBAL, AND MORE!

ICA-International (ICAI) and the International Association of Facilitators (IAF) have come together to form a working group consisting of three members/facilitators from each organization. The intent of the group is to explore ways the organizations can collaborate and support one another. Both organizations agree in principle to collaborate in areas of conferences, events, complementary certification, and training endorsements.

NORTH AND SOUTH AMERICAN REGIONAL CONFERENCE

From May 10th through 14th of 2016, North and South American ICAs gathered for a Regional Conference in Peru. The gathering marked the first time the ICAs in the region had met face-to-face in over 10 years. ICA Peru hosted the meeting at their beautiful training center in Azpitia, a quaint town 2 hours outside of Lima. Azpitia was one of the ICA Peru's main project sites a few decades back, and the training center that was created during that time has been wonderfully maintained and still serves groups that work with ICA Peru.

PEER SHARING IN ZIMBABWE STRENGTHENS ZIM50

In May, ICA-USA’s international team partnered with ICA-Tanzania to host an East & South Africa regional conference. With over 23 colleagues in attendance, representing ICAs and colleagues in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Togo, Canada and the US, the gathering was a great success. The gathering enabled collaborative dialogue and engagement among the ICAs in the region; it has subsequently sparked regional conferences all across the globe.
