COMMUNITY ENERGY EDUCATION WITH ISEIF CONTINUES IN 2016

ICA and three community organizations that are members of Chicago Sustainability Leaders Network (CSLN)--Chinese American Service League in Chinatown, Centers for New Horizons in Bronzeville, and Neighborhood Housing Services in Chicago Lawn--have been awarded a $180,000 grant from ISEIF, the Illinois Science & Energy Innovation Foundation, to continue to integrate Smart Grid consumer education into ongoing efforts to become neighborhood-based sustainability hubs.

CLOSING OUT THE YEAR WITH CSLN AND A GREENRISE YOUTH HUB DAY

ICA closed out the program events for the year on December 3rd with a Hub event & a Chicago Sustainability Leaders Network (CSLN) gathering. The Hub event drew in an inter-generational group, including CSLN members, students from two high schools, and AmeriCorps Public Allies whose service work involves sustainability with youth. The aim of Hub days are to promote the ICA GreenRise as a community space to gather and learn skills that support personal sustainability.

NEW & RETURNING YOUTH SERVICE LEARNING PARTNERS

To close out the summer, two youth ministries participated in a week-long ICA Service Learning program while staying at the ICA GreenRise. Northway Christian Church and the First Christian Church of Rowlett, both from Texas, arranged for their two ministries to learn, live, and volunteer together. ​

NTTA & 2016 ANNUAL GATHERING

ICA and the ToP Network have partnered to create the National ToP Training Academy (NTTA). Set to launch in 2016, the NTTA is a one-year, comprehensive, train-the trainer model designed to qualify trainers to teach the ToP Facilitation Methods. The aim of the academy is to allow individuals to transition from Apprentice Trainers in ToP to Qualified Trainers within a one-year timespan.

ENERGY & EXCITEMENT AROUND ICA REGIONAL GATHERINGS AROUND THE GLOBE

In May, ICA-USA’s international team partnered with ICA-Tanzania to host an East & South Africa regional conference. With over 23 colleagues in attendance, representing ICAs and colleagues in Zimbabwe, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Togo, Canada and the US, the gathering was a great success. The gathering enabled collaborative dialogue and engagement among the ICAs in the region; it has subsequently sparked regional conferences all across the globe.
