What is the ICA Earth Day Celebration?
On Saturday, April 20th, join us at Buttercup Park (located at Sheridan and Ainslie) from 12 PM to 3 PM for an Earth Day event by the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) and McCutcheon Elementary. We're coming together to address the pressing issue of climate change and specifically focus on raising awareness about the impact of plastic waste. This event serves as an educational platform to empower individuals, families, and communities with the knowledge and tools to combat climate change effectively.
Through engaging workshops and informative displays, attendees will gain insights into practical actions they can take to become more climate resilient. This event is not just about learning; it's also an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals who share concerns about the environment and its effects on our communities.
We invite organizations and businesses from Uptown and the wider Chicago area to participate by hosting a table or workshop. if you're interested, please fill out the Google Form by April 1st. For any inquiries, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected].

What can organizations and businesses do at the event?
For organizations: Organizations that participate in Earth Day are encouraged to present their mission and the services or support they provide and to recruit their constituents to attend the event. They can engage attendees through workshops that aim to educate and involve attendees in hands-on activities. Workshops should be designed to be completed in 30-45 minutes and preferably will be focused on plastic waste reduction or sustainability in the broader context. Organizations are responsible for covering all material costs (we will provide the table) so that participants won't pay for things they create and take home from the workshop.
For businesses: Businesses that participate in Earth Day are encouraged to educate attendees about their sustainable business practices, sell their goods, and recruit their customers to attend the event. Businesses may also provide workshops, following the expectations for an organization's workshop above.
