ARCHIVES PROJECT READY FOR MAY SOJOURNER PROGRAM

SPENCER FAMILY TO MATCH DONATIONS

Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA) announced on February 23rd that Raymond and Tina Spencer have pledged to match dollar-for-dollar every new gift and additional gift to ICA up to $50,000. This challenge will help build and boost programming during the 50th Anniversary year.
​

The Spencers and the Sandra True Family both created challenge grants of $60,000 in 2011. ICA is honored by the loyalty and support of their challenges.

MURAL AT 4750 N SHERIDAN RD TO HONOR SAINT

A mural done for a former tenant will be getting moved from 4750 N Sheridan, but for a very good reason. The subject of the mural has just been canonized as a saint.

​Colleague Paul Noah painted the mural of Kateri Tekakwitha for the Anawim Center, the Native American outreach program of the Archdiocese of Chicago.

ToP HOLDS ANNUAL CONFERENCE IN SACRAMENTO

50TH ANNIVERSARY EVENT IN FLORIDA

Colleagues Judith and Mike Tippett hosted a 50th Anniversary event for ICA at their home in Bradenton, Florida on January 17th. Terry Bergdall, CEO of ICA, lead the discussion of the event, talking about positive trends in the world: concern for suffering in local communities and churches, the greening of buildings, local production/consumption of organic foods, the Arab Spring-nonviolent approach to their revolutions and the Occupy movement.

SATW CONFERENCE MOVED TO SEPTEMBER 2012

The "Sharing Approaches That Work" Conference that will cap ICA-USA's 50th Anniversary Celebration has been moved to September 15th, 2012. The location will still be at ICA-USA's home at 4750 N Sheridan Rd in Chicago. The date was changed in November to give colleagues and staff time to prepare for the event and to allow for the research into Chicago's sustainable development projects. Stay tuned to the website for the exact date!

NEW EVENT FOR ICA 50TH

A new event has just been added for the ICA's 50 Events for 50 Years series. ICA staff member Dick Alton, a longtime colleague, will be using his 70th birthday as part of the 50 events on December 16th. The "surprise" party will be at the ICA offices on the sixth floor of 4750 N Sheridan Rd. The party will go from 7 pm to 9 pm.

TOP NETWORK IN THE 50 EVENTS

Institute of Cultural Affairs-USA (ICA-USA) is celebrating 50 years in community development in 2012. One of the first key events will be in Sacramento, California in early January and the Technology of Participation (ToP) Network would like to extend the invitation for you to attend.

The ToP Network conference will be held January 6th through 9th in Old Sacramento and will be followed with various courses in image shift, appreciative inquiry and virtual facilitation from January 9 through 12. The conference itself will be addressing participation issues in our time as well as ways to strengthen our nation training system that transfers our facilitation methods.
