The Accelerate 77 project is an effort to create a framework of communication and collaboration between environmental and sustainable development efforts in each of Chicago’s 77 community areas. Both the ICA and Truman College are based in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.
The Share Fair will bring more than 230 organizations together under one roof to learn from and support each other. The morning will be a marketplace of ideas for three projects from each community area to meet and network. Karen Weigert, the chief sustainability officer for the City of Chicago, will give the keynote address.
The Center for Neighborhood Technology, Openlands, Active Transportation Alliance, Energy Impact Illinois and Seven Generations Ahead will join 19 other organizations in presenting afternoon seminars educating those attending on what individuals can do to promote and develop sustainability at a local level.
"We are thrilled that Truman College has become a partner in bringing accelerate 77 and the Share Fair to life,” said Terry Bergdall, president and CEO of ICA. "The facilities will be a perfect gathering place to welcome people from all across the city to Uptown.”
