FIVE NEW CERTIFIED ToP FACILITATORS

On April 25, 2015, five new facilitators were assessed on their competencies with the Technology of Participation (ToP)®. ​​On April 25th, Becky Groff of Des Moines, IA; Robert Quintana Hopkins of Oakland, CA; Robin Rifkin of Melrose Park, PA; Jen Schanen of Green Bay, WI; and Kap Wilkes of Duluth, MN all passed the assessment process and became Certified ToP Facilitators. We congratulate these new CTFs on their accomplishments and joining the other 70 CTFs currently in the ToP Network. We look forward to all the great things they will accomplish!
The assessment process looks for seven core competencies which include the ability of the facilitator to:
  • Manage Positive Client Relationships
  • Create a Participatory Environment
  • Evoke the Creativity of the Group
  • Use ToP Methods Effectively
  • Model Positive Professional Attitude
  • Orchestrate Quality Events
  • Produce Effective Results. 

Additionally, a portfolio for a Certified ToP Facilitator (CTF) must minimally include:
  • 1 Substantial project completed & documented; starting from the request to the client, all the way to the event reflection worksheet.
  • 1 Strategic Planning process completed & documented
  • 3 Focused Conversation designs with procedures
  • 3 Consensus Workshop designs with procedures
  • 1 facilitation design for a small group 
  • 1 facilitation design for a large group
  • 1 facilitation event design that shows the use of tools or exercises that engage at least 3 distinct individual “processing/learning” 
  • 1 ToP method Action Plan design with procedures 
  • 1 Historical Scan / Wall of Wonder design with procedures
  • 1 Co-facilitated event design 
  • Evidence of understanding
