Last Fall’s Sojourn was the biggest in Archives history and we have great expectations for the next session. A key component to this Sojourn will be a Global Archives Planning session on Tuesday, March 29th to strategically map out the next several years. The intent for Spring Sojourn 2016 is to release ICA Global Archive strategy to support ongoing archive projects and the mission of ICA.

THE WORK OF THE ARCHIVES BASEMENT RESETTLEMENT PROJECT

Over the years many cabinets of files have been transferred from the basement archive storage to the 6th floor Global Archives work rooms. The Global Archives team is in the midst of the Archive Basement Resettlement, an initiative to make sure all of the most valuable information will be preserved. Over 18,000 documents have been logged into the archive database, and volunteers are working to make documents available online. ​

GLOBAL ARCHIVES PROJECT IS DESIGNING A RESETTLEMENT PLAN

There are many opportunities to engage with the ICA Global Archives in the upcoming year. Starting in January 2015, a team will be EXTRACTING files from basement storage. These BASEMENT MINERS have selected one category to focus on; 'Global Research Assembly' documents will be selected by year and placed in bankers boxes, loaded onto the freight elevator and brought to the 6th floor.

ICA RELEASES FIFTH CITY VIDEO TO COMMEMORATE FIFTH CITY PRESCHOOL 50TH ANNIVERSARY

In 1962, ICA established operations in Fifth City in Chicago's East Garfield Park community on the West Side of Chicago.

​Two years later, Fifth City community members established the 
Fifth City Child Development Institute. This Saturday, July 26th, 9am-3pm, Fifth City Preschool will celebrate 50 years of providing early education to neighborhood children.
