Donate to ICA Programs (Chicago)

The mission of ICA is to build a just and equitable society in harmony with planet earth through empowering cultural dimensions of the social process. All of its work is grounded in a set of strategies which facilitate sustainable community development by drawing upon assets and social capital in a collaborative manner.
Citywide - accelerate77 & Chicago Sustainability Leaders Network
In 2011, ICA launched a citywide project called accelerate77, aimed at accelerating grassroots sustainability initiatives throughout Chicago’s 77 community areas. The project did this by identifying the initiatives and connecting them to one another, resource providers, and policy makers in a city-wide Sharing Approaches that Work Conference. The accelerate77 project has led to the formation of the Chicago Sustainability Leaders Network (CSLN). As the organizing sponsor of the network, ICA is currently engaging members of the CSLN, a network of local activists and community organizations/organizers throughout Chicago, in collaborative change making efforts.

Local - Uptown
Recently ICA has begun an effort to reinvest programmatically in its local neighborhood, Uptown. ICA has directed its local programming towards connecting residents to build relationships with one another and other organizations and live more sustainable lifestyles. Examples of community engagement include organizing the first Uptown Garden Walk and a series of planning sessions for Uptown's Coastal Zone.
