Our Programs & Impacts
GreenRise Community
The ICA's GreenRise is home to one of the nation's largest nonprofit hubs. We share space with a pharmacy, multiple faith-based organizations, community action organizations such as One People's Campaign and One Northside, and more. Our building is also a space for community gathering and aims to bring the community together through reservable spaces and events offered at the GreenRise.

Afforable Housing
The GreenRise building is a model of sustainable community living. As a part of our mission and dedication to the Uptown community, we provide over a hundred units of affordable housing in 3 different intentional communities. Residents have the opportunity to engage in shared, climate-conscious living practices and have access to a community kitchen, community gathering spaces, an affordable and comfortable living space, and various ICA resources.
ToP Facilitation
The ICA's Technology of Participation Program (ToP) is a world-wide initiative to bring effective facilitation methods to organizations and communities. ToP methods are a product of decades of the ICA's community development experience and transform individual's wisdom into collective consensus and action.

Uptown Decarbonization Buildings Collaborative
The Uptown Decarbonization Buildings Collaborative is a grassroots group of neighborhood organizations united by a shared goal to make our buildings net-zero emissions by 2035. The ICA's GreenRise is 1 of 13 collectively owned buildings in the Uptown Decarbonization Buildings Collaborative.
Global Archives
The ICA's Global Archives are a historical compilation of decades of work undertaken by the Ecumenical Institute and the Institute of Cultural Affairs across the globe. Our archives hold presentations, books, memoirs, stories, and publications that document social movements, facilitation methods, community development, nation building, and more dating back to the 1960's. We believe that the preservation and exploration of our history can be a powerful tool to shape our collective future.
