1962 - 2012 Midway in a Century of Care
To honor the starting point of the Ecumenical Institute and the Institute of Cultural Affairs (ICA), ICA is at the mid-point in a century of care. There is certainly much to consider when preparing for such a landmark occasion. The age of an organization says nothing about the strength of its origin, its vitality in terms of service innovation, or even its culture at any special moment in time.
Individuals and groups were invited to help create the EI/ICA 50th Celebration in their community. The events considered present challenges for our communities and the globe, and looked ahead to the next 50 years of positive, innovative social change.

Common Features of an ICA 50th Anniversary Event
While the specifics of these events varied, there were some common features that tied them together. Below are four features that ICA had host-teams include in the design of their events.
DISCUSSION, IN SOME FORM, ABOUT CARING FOR THE WORLD DURING THE NEXT 50 YEARS
In some events, this was the primary focus. Other gatherings were prompted with the below questions:
What are some of the urgent challenges that concern you? Think both locally and globally. What are some of the tools and insights from your own experience that have been helpful in dealing with some of these difficult challenges? What is currently going on in our community/region or area that is a creative response to some of these challenges? What gives you hope for the future? |

SHARING THE STORY OF THEIR EVENT WITH THE ICA COMMUNITY
Hosts prepared a 1-2 page summary about the event that was shared widely. Summaries included some information about where and when the event, who attended, and what occurred. More details on the events are included below. If an event you are interested in does not include contact information, please email Caitlin at Csarro@ica-usa.org. |
