8/15/2014

A friend of mine suggested we show the Al Gore film, An Inconvenient Truth, at our church. Sure, only about 10 people showed up, but those 10 decided to continue to meet, and we have done a lot over 6 years.
Richard "Dick" Alton is a long-time ICA colleague and activist based in Oak Park, IL. He is actively creating a sustainable future for Oak Park and River Forest through Green Community Connections and the Interfaith Green Network. He was Secretary General of ICA International for over 15 years.
How did you find the ICA?
In the sixties, I was working with the New York Urban League with store front schools for high school drop outs when a friend told me about ICA's courses. I went to a course and became a big fan of their work.

How did you become interested in sustainability?
A friend of mine suggested we show the Al Gore film, An Inconvenient Truth, at our church. Sure, only about 10 people showed up, but those 10 decided to continue to meet, and we have done a lot over 6 years.*

What is an interesting fact about you?
I coached high school baseball in Europe for 15 years as a part time coach. Our schedule was: London, Paris, The Hague, Frankfurt, Vienna and Cairo.
