Institute of Cultural Affairs-USA (ICA-USA) is celebrating 50 years in community development in 2012. One of the first key events will be in Sacramento, California in early January and the Technology of Participation (ToP) Network would like to extend the invitation for you to attend.
The ToP Network conference will be held January 6th through 9th in Old Sacramento and will be followed with various courses in image shift, appreciative inquiry and virtual facilitation from January 9 through 12. The conference itself will be addressing participation issues in our time as well as ways to strengthen our nation training system that transfers our facilitation methods. You will find more about conference offerings at the registration website www.top-network.org. We hope to see you at the conference and celebration banquet.
“I saw the event capture the interest and participation of both experienced activists and people new to thinking of themselves as having something important to give in creating the future,” said colleague and event organizer Janice Ulangca. “Work in pairs and small groups alternated with excellent DVD presentations by people such as Desmond Tutu, Thomas Berry, Matthew Fox, Thich Nhat Hanh, Wangari Mathai, Paul Hawken (author of Blessed Unrest) and Rob Hopkins (Transition Communities).”
ICA will be co-sponsor, with the Oklahoma City University Oikos Scholars Program, of "Caring for Our HOME: Educating Moral Leaders for Ecological Sustainability.” This collaborative conference will occur September 23-24, 2011, on the OCU campus and will focus on the role of higher education in working with students and communities to create educational programs and community partnerships to care for planet earth.
Dean Mark Davies at OCU has always seen ICA's network of experienced change agents as a "living archive” that has valuable wisdom to share with today's students and faculty. I hope many of you will consider attending in order to share that wisdom. |
