OUR GLOBAL NETWORK

ICA-USA is Statutory Member of ICA-International a global network of ICA's advancing human development worldwide. ICA's aim to foster an authentic and sustainable transformation of individuals, communities and organizations, through our participation-based methods and values. ICA-International facilitates peer-to-peer interchange, learning and mutual support across the network of ICA's, for greater and deeper impact. ICA International maintains consultative status with UN ECOSOC, UNESCO, UNICEF, WHO & FAO.

There are over 30+ ICA's across the globe; ICA's in the global north tend to focus on using ICA's ToP processes to build the capacity of local organizations through organizational development work, while ICA's in the global south tend to focus on using ToP tools to build the capacity of local communities, in community development work.  ICA - USA works on both organizational and community development, and partners with its sister organizations around the globe to continue to grow and innovate ICA's change- making methods. To see a complete list of ICA's visit www.ica-international.org/ica-worldwide/

In addition to providing leadership and participating in ICA-International, ICA-USA partners with our sister organizations to support innovative programming across the globe. Some of the current initiatives include:

  • Working on global policy for Technology of Participation (ToP)® to promote curriculum and method innovation in both community and organizational development fields
  • Supporting projects that bring The Learning Basket® (an early childhood education program) to countries across Latin America
  • Working with colleagues in East Africa to support their local work on cultivating Self-Help Groups for those living with HIV/AIDS.

AlDS-FREE COMMUNITY TOOLBOX

ICA-USA has partnered with ICA's in Africa since the early 2000's  on the African HIV/AIDS Prevention Initiative, implemented by 10 African ICAs. From 2013 to 2016, ICA Zimbabwe piloted the AIDS-Free Community Campaign in 26 communities in surrounding Harare. The Campaign Toolbox consolidates what had been learned and organized into key aspects of community responsibility for AIDS prevention into a one-year replicable design.
