The Living Legacy 2007 Event held October 5-7 at Techny Towers Retreat Center outside Chicago included:
Fall decor celebrating the Abundant Harvest of over 40 years of ICA-USA work.
Posters, displays, and book tables lining the hallway to catalog current work in the spirit of the ICA Legacy.
An eclectic group of over 40 representing nearly the full historical spectrum of OE/EI/ICA, ToP Trainers, and new staff members, Executive Director Nino Tillman, retiring Interim Executive Director Pamela Wilcox, Director of Finance Charles DeFuria, and National Program Manager, Cheryl Zaleski.
A Legacy Luncheon attended by Fifth City Reformulation Board members - Verdell Trice, Floyd Stanley, Lillie Fox, and Luster Jackson and showcasing a display of "Treasures from the Archives" prepared by Betty Pesek.
Participant Sandra True reports that "facilitators, Mirja Hanson and Duncan Holmes, reflected the skill and grace that brought honor to the deep theological source of ICA processes and lead us to authentic dialogue regarding the three focus questions posed.
What does ICA-USA need to do to support and serve emerging change networks?
What does ICA-USA need to do and be as part of the global family of national ICA's?
What does ICA-USA need to do to preserve and share 40 plus years of wisdom contained in the Global Archives and embedded in each pioneering spirit?
The product of the small groups addressing these questions reported as 'advice to the Board and Staff' was amazingly similar. About ten broad categories were identified in the cross gestalt. The official, final report will be the source for detail but arenas included...conciliation, future relationships, ICAI, communication, participation, research, and the care and preservation of the archives."
A rousing celebration Saturday evening included the showing of a new DVD of classic ICA films..."The World of Human Development" and a 1964 CBS program about the Ecumenical Institute entitled "The Bold Community".
A report from the weekend and transcripts of greetings from colleagues to the gathering will be available in the near future
