The campus of Oklahoma City University (OCU) welcomed 20 ICA colleagues October 6-8, 2009. The Dean of Liberal Arts, Mark Davies, invited ICA to participate in an intense three-day dialogue with the university's honors program. The focus of this program, known as OIKOS, is to study and research issues of peace, poverty, and planet Earth. Dean Davies is interested in ICA's responses to the 1960s and 1970s, etc, and sees that ICA's work during those turbulent times can be informative to young people as they consider today's global challenges. He has called this project "The ICA Living Archives." The meeting coincided with the university distinguished speaker's series where Erik Peterson of the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC spoke on the "Seven Revolutions: Exploring the World of 2025."
Terry Bergdall, Acting Executive Director, said "We are deeply grateful for our colleagues' willingness to invest their time and energy in this opportunity to insure that our rich legacy (EI/OE/ICA) continues to make a creative contribution to addressing the challenges facing the world today and in the future."
The outcome of the meeting involved plans for ICA-USA and OIKOS to co-sponsor a study and research event on the OCU campus July 12- 14, 2010. The title is "PEACE, POVERTY, AND PLANET EARTH: Exploring Resources for a Sustainable Future" and will involve OIKOS students and faculty along with members of the EI/ICA community.
